Curro Esports Hosts Epic Gaming Showdown at National LAN 2023

The world of gaming was abuzz with excitement as Curro Esports, a trailblazer in providing competitive gaming opportunities for young learners, recently wrapped up its highly anticipated Curro Clash National LAN 2023.

Stretching across two physical venues, Curro Durbanville in Cape Town and Curro Rivonia in Gauteng, as well as the boundless digital realm, this event brought together the nation’s most passionate and skilled gamers from various schools. From September 27 to September 30, 2023, the virtual arena played host to 293 players hailing from 32 schools, all engaged in a thrilling Esports extravaganza, bolstered by the guidance of 50 dedicated coaches.

Over the course of three intense days, participants were divided into teams based on their age and competed across various gaming titles, including Minecraft Build Battle, Minecraft PVP, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and Rocket League. The competition’s structure was meticulously designed to push players to their limits, with Round Robin stages leading to nail-biting knockout rounds.

Adding to the excitement, Curro Esports live-streamed the final matches on Twitch, giving fans, families, and Esports enthusiasts from around the country a front-row seat to witness the incredible skills and sportsmanship displayed by these young gaming prodigies.

Magdeleen de Kock, Digital Transformation Facilitator and Esports project lead, expressed her thoughts on the event, stating, “The remarkable performance of the Group schools in the Curro Clash National LAN 2023 tournament is a testament to our dedication to providing a holistic education. We observed remarkable teamwork, sportsmanship, and a genuine display of talent throughout the event. From thrilling matches to inspiring moments of collaboration, this tournament showcased that Curro Esports is not solely about gaming; it’s about nurturing our learners’ potential and connecting their passion with opportunities in the constantly evolving digital world. We congratulate all the participants for their outstanding efforts.”
