Hyundai Automotive South Africa has launched a new light commercial vehicle, the Venue Cargo, aimed at businesses that require a small but spacious vehicle for their deliveries. The Venue Cargo has a 500 kg payload and is based on the entry-level derivative, the Venue 1.2 Motion, which was refreshed in 2022. The Cargo has an enlarged load area created by removing the rear seat bench, and a steel mesh grille provides extra security between the front seats and the cargo area. The cargo area has dimensions of 1,200 mm in length, 1,200 mm in width, and 900 mm in height, providing a capacity of 1,296 litres.
The Venue Cargo joins its smaller Cargo range partner, the Grand i10 Cargo, which was launched in 2019 and has proven popular for commercial and business use. The Venue Cargo comes with a Polar White exterior colour, 15-inch steel wheel rims with a styled plastic cover, and a refreshed front grille with a cascading chocolate-box appearance.
Inside, the Venue Cargo has an infotainment system with an 8-inch display audio touchscreen and a rearview monitor in the front console. It also has USB cell phone charging ports, a Supervision 4.2-inch TFT LCD display, a rearview camera, and Bluetooth hands-free phone operation. The vehicle is equipped with a manual air conditioner and safety features such as two front airbags, three-point seatbelts with pre-tensioners and force limiters, an Advanced Braking System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist.
Under the hood, the Venue Cargo has a naturally aspirated 4-cylinder Kappa 1.2-litre MPi petrol engine, delivering 61 kW maximum power and 115 Nm maximum torque, driving the vehicle through a 5-speed manual transmission. The engine boasts an average fuel consumption of 6.5 litres per 100 km, and the suspension configuration and tuning provide a good compromise between ride comfort and vehicle control.
The price (VAT inclusive) for the Hyundai Venue Cargo is R 329,900, and it comes with a 7-year / 200,000 km warranty, 7-year / 150,000 km roadside assistance, and a 3-year / 45,000 km service plan. Service intervals are at 15,000 km, or annually when applicable. The Venue Cargo promises to be a low-cost, reliable option for businesses that need a small commercial vehicle with a spacious and secure load area.
