Kia South Africa has unveiled three new turbodiesel models to its Sportage range. The new range will complement the 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol models released in September 2022, offering consumers a more diverse range of options. The new models are fitted with a 1.6 CRDi engine with an advanced version of Kia’s 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). The engine provides 100 kW of power at 4,000 r/min, and 320 Nm of torque at 2,000 and 2,250 r/min. The Sportage range’s latest addition provides an ideal balance between power, performance and fuel efficiency, with CO2 emissions rated at 129 g/km.
The Sportage’s design draws on Kia’s Opposites United design language, which is prevalent throughout the car’s appearance and characteristics. The car’s bold design, with 12 different exterior colours to choose from, gives it an assertive road presence from all angles. Meanwhile, the cabin’s design incorporates innovative technology, luxury features and premium materials to create a state-of-the-art driving experience. The Sportage’s cabin boasts a beautifully sculpted integrated curved display, slim touchscreen pad and finely detailed air vents, as well as an ergonomic centre console that provides storage, operating system configuration, cup-holders, and soft-touch switches.
The Sportage’s fifth generation is equipped with a MacPherson strut type suspension at the front and a four-link type set-up at the rear, resulting in a refined, stable and comfortable ride with agile and dynamic handling. The vehicle’s advanced steering system has been meticulously tuned to help bring these qualities together. Additionally, the Sportage range is equipped with active and passive safety features, such as an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Brake Control (DBC) and Trailer Stability Assist (TSA).
The Sportage’s intelligent interior space combines practicality, functionality, and versatility, and is underpinned by a compact wheelbase of 2,680mm, a width of 1,865mm, length of 4,515mm and height of 1,650mm. This results in a class-leading legroom, headroom and luggage capacity (591 litres VDA). The Sportage’s latest additions have been widely recognised for their daring combination of luxury and value for money, underpinned by award-winning design and engineering that sets it apart in its segment.
The new Kia Sportage CRDi derivatives are on sale as of today, 3 May 2023.
