Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its latest software update, One UI 5.1. The company has recently confirmed the existence of the update and which phones will be receiving it.
One UI 5.1 is expected to arrive first on the Galaxy S23 when the series is released in February. However, it’s unclear at this time exactly what new features and improvements the update will bring to the table.
A recent changelog for the Galaxy Watch 5 update, however, has given us some insight into One UI 5.1. The update will be required for new “Camera Controller” functionality on the Galaxy Watch 5, which allows users to control the zoom on their paired smartphone by pinch-to-zooming on their wrist. Samsung has previously stated that this functionality will be available starting in February.
This confirms that One UI 5.1 will begin rolling out in February and the changelog also confirms which phones will be receiving the update. According to the note, One UI 5.1 will be available on “flagship models released after Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip.” This includes the Galaxy S20, S21, and S22, as well as the Galaxy Z Flip, Z Flip 5G, Z Flip 3, Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Z Fold 3, and Z Fold 4. While some budget-focused devices and tablets may also receive the update, they may not support this specific feature.
