Sony introduces INZONE M10S

Sony has announced the latest addition to its INZONE gaming gear line-up: the INZONE M10S, a 27-inch OLED gaming monitor developed in collaboration with esports powerhouse, Fnatic. This new monitor is turning heads with its ultra-fast 480Hz refresh rate, an impressive 0.03ms response time, and QHD resolution. Designed specifically for esports, the INZONE M10S also offers a 24.5-inch mode and new FPS Pro settings, making it tournament-ready.

The launch of the INZONE M10S marks a significant step forward for gaming monitors. Co-developed with Fnatic, the monitor’s design and features are deeply informed by feedback from professional gamers. Esports enthusiasts will appreciate its blend of performance and comfort, designed to optimise focus and gameplay.

The INZONE M10S: Speed and Precision

What sets the INZONE M10S apart is its 480Hz refresh rate combined with a lightning-fast 0.03ms response time, eliminating motion blur and ensuring unprecedented clarity during fast-paced action. This is especially crucial in competitive environments, where every millisecond counts. The self-illuminated OLED pixels respond more quickly than conventional LCDs, enabling blur-free visuals that give gamers a competitive edge. The monitor’s QHD resolution, which offers 1.8 times the pixel density of standard FHD displays, ensures visual sharpness even at longer ranges.

Designed with Fnatic’s pro players, the INZONE M10S is more than just another monitor. It features a 24.5-inch mode that plays games at a 1:1 resolution of 1332p, also with the 480Hz refresh rate. Players can switch to this mode to focus more on detail in high-stakes tournaments. For those more accustomed to 24.5-inch 1080p monitors, it offers lower resolution settings as well, providing flexibility without compromising on visual quality.

New dedicated FPS (First-Person Shooter) modes were developed in collaboration with Fnatic’s VALORANT team, further enhancing the INZONE M10S’s capabilities. The FPS Pro+ mode sharpens image clarity, leveraging OLED’s high contrast and rapid response times, which allows players to spot enemies more effectively. This could well be the future standard for competitive gaming monitors.

Designed for Esports, Tested by the Best

The design of the INZONE M10S is crafted with the player in mind. Co-developed with Fnatic, the ergonomic base, with a diameter of just 159mm and an ultra-thin flat design of 4mm, maximises desk space. This allows players to freely position large mousepads and keyboards around the monitor, offering full customisation of their gaming set-up. The display itself can be centred or bottom-aligned, ensuring that players maintain focus on the game.

“The INZONE M10S has really changed the way I approach my gameplay,” says Jake ‘Boaster’ Howlett, one of Fnatic’s leading VALORANT players. “I’m a huge fan of FPS Pro+ mode. It sharpens the agents I’m targeting, giving me the clarity I need without having to manually adjust settings.”

Fnatic’s Timofey ‘Chronicle’ Khromov echoes the sentiment. “I’ve been part of the development of the M10S, and it’s thrilling to see our input come to life in a product that makes such a big difference. The OLED’s rapid response time and stunning colours remove any excuses for underperformance. This is the kind of monitor we’ve always needed.”

Display Innovation Meets the Apex Legends Global Series

Sony’s foray into esports doesn’t end with Fnatic’s input. The INZONE M10S has also been selected as the official monitor for the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS), starting with the Year 4 Championships in Japan in January 2025. This partnership between Sony and EA underscores the monitor’s calibre. ALGS competitors will have access to the same technology used by Fnatic’s VALORANT team, offering them the highest possible level of precision and performance.

“Every second and every frame matters in esports,” says Monica Dinsmore, Senior Director of Esports and Ventures Brand at EA. “As we gear up for the ALGS Year 4 Championship in Sapporo, Japan, it’s critical that competitors have the best technology available. That’s why we’ve partnered with Sony to provide the INZONE M10S – it’s a game-changer for competitive esports.”

INZONE M9 II: Sony’s Other Offering

In addition to the INZONE M10S, Sony has also updated its 4K gaming monitor, the INZONE M9 II. This 27-inch monitor now features backlight scanning to improve motion clarity, an essential feature for gamers seeking smoother transitions in high-action gameplay. With a 160Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, the M9 II offers crisp visuals at 4K UHD resolution.

Other features of the M9 II include full array local dimming technology borrowed from Sony’s BRAVIA TV range and DisplayHDR 600 certification, offering deep blacks and a wide colour gamut (DCI-P3 95%). Whether you’re gaming at 1080p or 4K, the INZONE M9 II aims to provide an immersive experience, with a focus on motion clarity and contrast.

Eco-Friendly Design

Sony has taken environmental impact into account with the design of the INZONE M10S and INZONE M9 II. Neither monitor uses moulded foam cushions, and both offer a low power consumption mode, reinforcing Sony’s commitment to sustainability.

Availability

The INZONE M10S and INZONE M9 II will be available in December 2024, and both monitors are expected to set a new standard in their respective categories. For gamers serious about performance, these offerings promise to be a worthy investment.
