The Xiaomi 13 Series includes dual flagship models, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro, co-engineered with Leica to offer a “pro-grade” smartphone photography experience. Both smartphones are kitted with a triple camera setup featuring Leica optical lenses. The Leica Vario-Summicron 1.19-2.2/14-75 ASPH. camera system on Xiaomi 13 Pro covers focal lengths from 14mm to 75mm and consists of a 23mm wide-angle main camera with an ultra-large 1-inch IMX989 sensor, a 75mm floating telephoto camera, and a 14mm ultra-wide-angle camera. The IMX989 sensor is the largest sensor ever incorporated into a smartphone, ensuring colorful images with distinct contrast and defined textures that reveal every fine detail.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi 13 has an optical zoom range of 0.6x to 3.2x and also features a 75mm telephoto lens. Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro offer a wide range of detailed camera setting options which the brand says will “thrill both shutterbugs and professional photographers.” The Xiaomi 13 Series also excels at shooting video, allowing users to “Create in Dolby Vision” with vivid colours, sharp contrast ratios and rich details. There’s also the ability to capture 4K Ultra Night Videos and HyperOIS video stabilisation for capturing less shaky footage.
Both the 13 and 13 Pro are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with enhanced graphics processing through a GPU performance and power efficiency improvement of 42% and 49% respectively compared to the previous generation, while CPU performance and power efficiency are improved by 37% and 47% respectively.
The devices also offer Wi-Fi 7 support with Qualcomm FastConnect 7800 Mobile Connectivity System.
The Xiaomi 13 is equipped with a 4,500mAh battery, 67W wired turbo charging and 50W wireless turbo charging while the 13 Pro boasts a 4,820mAh battery with 120W wired turbo charging and 50W wireless turbo charging. The 13 Series is also equipped with Xiaomi Surge battery management system that utilises Xiaomi’s self-developed Surge charging chip for a longer service life and upgraded experience.

Alongside the flagship models, the brand also launched the Xiaomi 13 Lite, which has a 50MP main camera sensor, a 120Hz AMOLED display, a 4500mAh battery with 67W wired fast charging, all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1.

Located at Shop 82 on the lower level of Canal Walk Shopping Centre, the third-largest shopping centre in Africa, the store will be Capetonian’s gateway to affordable, quality smartphones and smart home products. You’re also able to bring your devices that need repairs to the store to get the process started.
The launch day festivities included discounts of up to 50% off select items and a free Mi Smart Band 5, valued at R699 (recommended retail price), with any smartphone purchased in-store (valid while stocks last and Ts&Cs apply). There were also discounts of 10% off other select products on launch day. All of those specials were for one day only – on the official launch day of 16 December.
If you weren’t able to visit the store on launch day, there’s still the chance to get holiday specials running throughout December. Xiaomi fans are encouraged to continuously visit the store for deals, as well as follow Xiaomi South Africa’s social media pages for updates on special offers, promotions, and competitions.

Known locally for its smartphones, Xiaomi has ensured that the latest devices launched in the country this year, including the Redmi Note 11 Series devices (Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 11 Pro), Redmi 10 Series devices (Redmi 10A, Redmi 10C and Redmi 10 2022), Xiaomi 12T Series devices (Xiaomi 12T Pro and Xiaomi 12T), and Xiaomi 12 Series devices (Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Lite), are all available in store. The Xiaomi 12T Pro is particularly noteworthy if you’re looking for a flagship Android device that costs under R20 000 with the Redmi Note 11 Pro also offering incredible specs at a ridiculously competitive price.

Offering more than just smartphones, the store offers local customers the opportunity to experience the brand’s range of AIoT products including its robot vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, security cameras, electric scooters, and even its own range of luggage.
While the entire product range isn’t available in the country, there are more than enough products available to kick-start your smart home ambitions at an affordable price.
