The Beach Boys’ Iconic Sound Gets Documentary Treatment on Disney+

Prepare for an endless summer of fun as Disney+ unveils “The Beach Boys”, a new documentary celebrating the legendary band that revolutionised pop music. Streaming exclusively from 24 May 2024, the film promises to immerse viewers in the iconic, harmonious California dream sound that captivated fans for generations.

Directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny, and written by Mark Monroe, “The Beach Boys” traces the band’s journey from humble family beginnings. It features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, and other music luminaries like Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was.

Viewers will also hear from the late Carl and Dennis Wilson in their own words, plus a new interview with Blondie Chaplin and audio from Ricky Fataar. The documentary is a Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures production, with an impressive lineup of executive producers including Nigel Sinclair, Mark Monroe, Tony Rosenthal, Cassidy Hartmann, Glen Zipper, Thom Zimny, Beth Collins, Jimmy Edwards, Susan Genco, Marc Cimino, Jody Gerson, Bruce Resnikoff, and Ben J. Murphy.

To complement the documentary, the official soundtrack, “The Beach Boys: Music From The Documentary,” will be available to stream and download on 24 May via Capitol/UMe. Additionally, the group’s iconic 1964 album “Shut Down, Vol. 2” is now available on limited edition blue and white marble vinyl,or listenin to it on your favourite music streaming platform: Stream The Beach Boys (lnk.to). The band’s only official book, “The Beach Boys by The Beach Boys,” was released on 2 April via Genesis Publications.
