On 1 October 2024, Uber will launch Uber Safari, a unique and unforgettable wildlife experience for Cape Town residents and visitors alike. As part of Uber’s exclusive ‘Go Anywhere’ series, which has previously rolled out in global hotspots like Paris, Mykonos, and Cappadocia, this South African edition brings the country’s iconic Big Five animals right to your fingertips—booked with the same Uber convenience you know and trust.
Partnering with Aquila Private Game Reserve, one of the region’s most renowned conservancies, Uber Safari offers an unparalleled opportunity for guests to embark on a nearly three-hour game drive to see lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards, and rhinos, all while contributing to vital wildlife conservation efforts. The adventure is set to run on Fridays and Saturdays from October through to February, promising a luxury experience with a welcome toast, guided game tours, and a day surrounded by the natural beauty of South Africa’s wilderness.
“We’ve designed our ‘Go Anywhere’ series to help our customers book bucket list adventures with the Uber convenience they know and love,” said Frans Hiemstra, Regional General Manager of Uber in the Middle East and Africa. “With Uber Safari, our Reserve technology makes it easier than ever to unlock an epic South African travel experience.”
The package, priced at $200 (approx. R3 435.68 at time of publishing) for up to four guests, includes transportation in an Uber Safari-branded vehicle from Cape Town, followed by a relaxing day at Aquila’s picturesque grounds. Beyond the exhilarating chance to see the Big Five up close, riders will also have access to the reserve’s top-tier facilities, including lunch and downtime to explore before heading back to the city.
Aquila’s longstanding commitment to conservation underpins this experience, with every booking contributing to the reserve’s ongoing efforts to protect endangered species and preserve the area’s biodiversity. “Uber Safari allows folks to book and enjoy an unforgettable day at Aquila, where they’ll get to experience the Big Five in an easy and luxurious way,” said Johan van Schalkwyk, Commercial Officer of Aquila Collection. “It’s the perfect combination of modern convenience and natural beauty, all while supporting wildlife conservation.”
This isn’t just another Uber ride—it’s a way for urban dwellers and tourists alike to access Africa’s wild heart effortlessly. Riders are encouraged to book early through Uber’s Reserve feature as availability is expected to be limited during the busy summer season.
