The Scuderia Ferrari mobile app has always been a bit of a niche pit stop for die-hard fans. But now it’s taking a hard turn into the future — with IBM’s generative AI under the hood.
This newly redesigned Scuderia Ferrari mobile app was launched today with a major software overhaul, powered by IBM’s watsonx platform – the same technology IBM is using to drive transformation through generative AI across industries.
Right after a race ends, the app can now serve up AI-written summaries of the team’s performance — complete with driver quotes, team insights, and a full race breakdown. It’s like a Formula 1 version of ChatGPT on a deadline. Built using IBM’s large language models (including the company’s Granite model), the tech crunches telemetry data, weather, tyre strategy, and more, then spits it out as an actual story — not just a spreadsheet.

The app also lets you dive into post-race stats with interactive visualisations — heat maps, lap times, pit stop details — and even compares current races to classic Scuderia Ferrari milestones. It’s basically a data nerd’s dream with a Tifosi paint job.
But the changes aren’t just about AI flexing. Fans can now send messages directly to the team (which might get featured in Ferrari’s social feeds), vote in daily polls, and relive iconic Ferrari wins from decades past. And yes — the app is now available in Italian for the first time, so the real Tifosi don’t have to switch languages to feel at home.
If you’re in South Africa — where F1 viewership keeps growing and Ferrari fandom runs deep — this could be the closest thing yet to being in the pit lane without leaving your couch.
IBM says this is only the first phase. More AI-driven features are coming throughout 2025, as part of an ongoing collab with Scuderia Ferrari HP.
It’s easy to be sceptical when brands talk about “reimagining fan engagement,” but here, there’s real substance. This app isn’t trying to replace the live F1 broadcast — it’s trying to give you something useful before and after lights out. If you care about strategy, stats, or just love seeing Ferrari back on the podium, it’s worth a download.
📱 Now available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
