If you’ve ever thought, “My business laptop is great, but what if it had AI?” — congratulations, ASUS made the ExpertBook P5 for you. This ultra-lightweight, AI-powered machine is packed with Intel’s latest Lunar Lake chips, military-grade durability, and promises to make your workday smarter. But does it actually deliver?

Design & build: Sleek, sturdy, but safe
The ExpertBook P5 doesn’t scream innovation at first glance, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Wrapped in a premium aluminium chassis, it’s light (1.3kg), thin (less than 16mm), and built to withstand real-world use, meeting MIL-STD 810H durability standards. The 14-inch display is crisp, with a 2.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate, but it’s not OLED — so contrast isn’t as deep as on some competitors.
Performance: AI helps — sometimes
Powered by Intel’s new Lunar Lake CPU, Intel Arc 140V GPU, and an Intel AI Boost NPU, the ExpertBook P5 promises next-level efficiency. For everyday tasks — spreadsheets, emails, video calls — it’s smooth and efficient. AI-driven features like noise cancellation in meetings and automatic power management work well, but do they change your life? Not really. You won’t see major leaps in performance unless your workflow relies on AI-assisted tools.
Battery life: Solid, but not groundbreaking
ASUS claims up to 12 hours of battery life, and real-world use gets close — around 10 hours with mixed productivity tasks. Fast charging is a plus, reaching 75% in under an hour. But with all this AI magic, we expected even more endurance.
Connectivity & security: Mostly great
You get Wi-Fi 7 for blazing-fast connectivity, a full-sized HDMI, and multiple USB ports, but no ethernet port — which might bother some professionals. Security features like Adaptive Lock (which locks when you walk away) and TPM 2.0 encryption are great for business users. Windows Hello with both facial recognition and a fingerprint scanner rounds out the package nicely.
Verdict: Good laptop, AI gimmick?
The ASUS ExpertBook P5 is a great business laptop. It’s well-built, light, powerful enough for professionals, and has genuinely useful security features. But the AI? It’s nice to have, but not essential. If you’re upgrading from an older work laptop, you’ll love the speed and design. But if you were expecting a full-blown AI revolution, this isn’t it — yet.
