A high-performance gaming laptop from ASUS’s Republic of Gamers (ROG) line, the G14 is known for its sleek design, powerful hardware, and impressive gaming capabilities. What makes this device more than just another gaming laptop is that ASUS realised that these are the same features and specs that would make the G14 a fantastic content-creator device.
In an era of “thin and light” laptops, it feels weird to say that one of the standout features of the G14 is its compact and lightweight design, but it is. Unlike so many other “thin and light” laptops, this one doesn’t sacrifice power and usability for portability.
Packing a 3.5mm headphone jack, an HDMI 2.0b port, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports and a microSD card reader, you won’t have to worry about having sufficient I/O (input/output).
Powering the laptop is the latest AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor with graphics handled by AMD’s Radeon RX 6700S.
If you’re wondering how it performs, take a look at these benchmark scores:
One of the most eye-catching parts of the laptop is the 14-inch ROG Nebula Display.
The Pantone Validated QHD+ display is anti-glare, boasts 100%of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, has a 120Hz refresh rate with 3ms response time, and supports Dolby Vision HDR.
When using it to view streaming content, edit content or play the occasional game, it always reproduced the most beautiful, vivid colours and had great viewing angles.
As eye-catching as the display is, the thing that will get the most attention is the AniMe Matrix on the outer lid. Essentially a dot matrix design with LED lights underneath you can turn the AniMe Matrix on to showcase a design or some text which you can use to promote your own brand, website, or social media account or just show off an interesting design.
It’s incredibly fun and a bonus for gamers and content creators alike. If you’re in a more serious environment, you are able to turn the AniMe Matrix off.
Overall, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 (2022) is an impressive device that addresses multiple use cases while still being portable enough to comfortably carry with you for hours while utilising a design that is stylish and understated (by ASUS standards) which allows it to fit in anywhere.
In fact, I loved it so much that I named it the best laptop of 2022 over on Wanted because it offers impressive performance with a sleek design and is an excellent choice for content creators or gamers who are looking for the rare combination of portability and powerful hardware.
