KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is taking luxury and comfort to new heights with the introduction of its brand-new World Business Class seats aboard its B777 fleet. Passengers traveling on the South African routes between Amsterdam and both Johannesburg and Cape Town will now experience an unparalleled level of elegance and privacy.
The highlight of these new World Business Class seats is the addition of a sliding door, ensuring a heightened sense of comfort and privacy for travelers. KLM has gone above and beyond to innovate these seats and their fittings, making them 10-15% lighter than other Business Class seats in the market segment. This commitment to sustainability aligns perfectly with KLM’s environmental objectives.
The design of KLM’s new World Business Class seats was carefully crafted based on extensive customer research. These seats offer passengers an abundance of space and ultimate comfort, allowing them to enjoy their journey to the fullest. Here are some of the remarkable features that make these seats truly exceptional:
- Unparalleled Privacy: Every seat in the World Business Class cabin offers direct access to the aisle, allowing passengers to move freely. Moreover, each seat is equipped with a lightweight sliding door that can be easily opened and closed, allowing travelers to create their own private oasis for work, relaxation, or sleep.
- Customisable Comfort: KLM understands the importance of personalisation, and that’s why the new seats come with a range of adjustment options. Passengers can tailor their seating experience to their liking, with features like adjustable lower-back support and a relax setting complete with a subtle back-massage feature.
- The Perfect Bed in the Sky: For those looking to catch up on sleep during their journey, the seats recline fully flat, transforming into a lavish 198cm-long bed. This ensures a restful and rejuvenating experience, so passengers can arrive at their destination feeling refreshed.
- Stay Connected and Charged: In today’s digital age, staying connected is a priority for many travelers. KLM has addressed this need by incorporating multiple easily accessible charging sockets, as well as a wireless charging option, ensuring that passengers can keep their devices powered throughout the flight.
- Thoughtful Storage Solutions: The new World Business Class seats come with convenient storage options. Passengers can securely stow their belongings in a lockable compartment, which even includes a built-in mirror. Additionally, the seats feature a recessed bottle holder, allowing travelers to keep their water bottles within reach and secure, even during turbulence.
It’s important to note that while KLM has introduced these incredible new World Business Class seats, the airline has maintained its high standards for other services, such as the catering concept and SkyPriority. These well-loved features remain unchanged, ensuring that passengers continue to enjoy a seamless and luxurious travel experience.
Boet Kreiken, EVP Customer Experience at KLM, expressed his excitement about the new seats, saying, “Based on extensive customer and competitor research, we improved our World Business Class seats to ensure that customers have more privacy and comfort during their flight. The new seats are better in terms of design, technology, and sustainability features. KLM meets a wide array of its passengers’ wishes with the new seats in World Business Class, Premium Comfort, Economy Comfort, and Economy Class. We are delighted to offer these new products and related services to our customers worldwide.”
To bring this extraordinary experience to life, KLM has chosen the renowned Jamco Venture seats for its new World Business Class. Installed in a 1-2-1 configuration, these seats provide all World Business Class passengers with direct access to the aisle. The Jamco Venture seats were previously featured in KLM’s Boeing 787 fleet, and through a collaboration with the manufacturer, KLM further enhanced their design based on customer feedback. The resulting full JAMCO design, including the personal cabin layout, is lighter than the previous setup without compromising on quality. The lighter seats not only contribute to passenger comfort but also align with KLM’s sustainability objectives.
KLM plans to outfit its entire Boeing 777-300 and 200 fleet with these new World Business Class seats. Additionally, the fleet will feature the latest Premium Comfort cabin, promising an elevated experience for passengers. The full revamp is expected to be completed over the course of the coming year.
