As loadshedding continues to plague South Africa, EcoFlow has introduced two new portable power solutions aimed at keeping homes and devices running during power cuts. The RIVER 2 Pro and DELTA 2 Max promise faster charging, higher capacities, and reliable backup power to provide whole-home comfort.
The RIVER 2 Pro is being billed as the best portable power station to combat stage 6 loadshedding. Packing a 768Wh capacity and 800W AC output (boosted to 1600W), it can handle up to 80% of heavy-duty household appliances like hair dryers, microwaves, and kettles.
Where the RIVER 2 Pro really shines is charging speed. Thanks to EcoFlow’s X-Stream tech, it can fully recharge from the mains in just 70 minutes – 70% faster than the industry average. It also promises a backup time of just 30ms when switching to battery power during a blackout.
For larger energy needs, the DELTA 2 Max could be the ideal home backup solution. Its 2048Wh base capacity can be expanded up to 6144Wh with extra batteries. It boasts a blistering recharge time from 0 to 100% in just 81 minutes via the mains or 2.3 hours from solar.
Dual AC and solar charging can top it up to 80% in only 43 minutes. With 2400W output (3100W boosted) and an uninterrupted power supply switchover in 20ms, EcoFlow claims the DELTA 2 Max can effortlessly power essential appliances even during severe stage 13 loadshedding.
Both units utilise EcoFlow’s LiFePO4 batteries which can last for 3000 charge cycles – six times the typical lifespan. The RIVER 2 Pro and DELTA 2 Max also come with an impressive 5-year warranty as standard.
The EcoFlow RIVER 2 Pro will retail for R11,999 while the DELTA 2 Max commands a R25,999 price tag.
