Huawei has demonstrated its commitment to Africa’s energy transition at the Solar Power Africa Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, showcasing its range of solar PV and green solutions. The company believes that “4T” technologies, which include water, heat, battery, and intelligence, will drive the development of Africa’s renewable energy.
Xia Hesheng, President of Huawei Digital Power Sub-Saharan Africa Region, pointed out in his keynote address that the world has reached a global consensus on carbon neutrality. He said that Africa urgently needs solar energy to address its energy shortage challenges and called on every organisation to transform from energy consumers to energy producers.
Huawei is leading by example, with its Johannesburg campus and the Waterkloof Winery in Cape Town being two examples of its work in South Africa. The company is committed to utilising its digital power energy technologies to bring clean energy to more people, families, and organisations in Africa.
“We want to use this occasion to call on more stakeholders to join us in this great transformation, let’s use our abundant natural resource, sunshine, to address today’s energy challenges, and in so doing, contribute to a carbon neutral future,” said Hesheng.
