MediaTek has just unveiled its groundbreaking Dimensity 9300, the latest addition to its flagship mobile chip lineup. With a unique and innovative “All Big Core” design, this chipset promises to redefine the boundaries of performance, efficiency, and user experiences across gaming, video capture, and on-device generative AI processing.

What sets the Dimensity 9300 apart is its integration of the next-generation APU 790 AI processor, specially engineered to elevate generative AI performance and energy efficiency for faster and more secure edge computing. The APU 790 delivers a twofold increase in integer and floating-point operations performance while reducing power consumption by an impressive 45%. By adapting the Transformer model for operator acceleration, the APU 790 achieves an eightfold increase in processing speed compared to its predecessor, enabling image generation within one second using Stable Diffusion.
Additionally, MediaTek’s innovative mixed-precision INT4 quantisation technology, in conjunction with NeuroPilot memory hardware compression, optimises memory bandwidth utilisation and substantially reduces memory requirements for large AI models. The APU 790 supports NeuroPilot Fusion, capable of continuous LoRA low-rank adaptation and scaling up to models with up to 33B parameters. As part of MediaTek’s extensive AI ecosystem, the Dimensity 9300 embraces cutting-edge large language models, including Meta Llama 2, Baichuan 2, Baidu AI LLM, and more, enabling swift deployment of multi-modal generative AI applications encompassing text, images, and music.
Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of Arm’s latest flagship GPU, the Immortalis-G720, which supercharges mobile gaming experiences. The Dimensity 9300 offers nearly a 46% boost in GPU performance while maintaining the same power consumption as the Dimensity 9200. Moreover, it manages a 40% reduction in GPU power consumption while sustaining performance equivalent to the previous generation chipset. This results in a substantial performance upgrade without compromising battery life.
The Dimensity 9300 takes mobile photography and video capture to new heights, featuring a low-power AI-ISP and always-on HDR, delivering up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Cinematic mode, with real-time bokeh tracking and 4K AI Noise Reduction (AI-NR) on RAW photos and videos, adds a professional touch to user-generated content. Furthermore, the Dimensity 9300 supports the new Ultra HDR format in Android 14, enhancing photo vibrancy while ensuring compatibility with the universally-supported JPEG format.
The display system of the Dimensity 9300 leverages on-device AI capabilities to detect primary objects and background images in real-time. Coupled with the MiraVision Picture Quality (PQ) engine, it dynamically adjusts contrast, sharpness, and color to enhance primary objects, creating lifelike video experiences comparable to flagship DTVs.
Connectivity remains a critical aspect of the user experience, and the Dimensity 9300 doesn’t disappoint. It supports Wi-Fi 7 with speeds of up to 6.5 Gbps, integrating MediaTek Xtra Range Technology for extended long-range connectivity. MediaTek’s Multi-Link Hotspot technology further improves smartphone tethering speeds by up to 3X when compared to rival solutions.
Big core power: Built on TSMC’s third-generation 4nm process, the Dimensity 9300 features four Arm Cortex-X4 cores with operating speeds of up to 3.25GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores operating at up to 2.0GHz, maximising performance.
Faster display speeds: The chipset supports WQHD at 180Hz and 4K up to 120Hz, offering stunning visuals and dual active display support for foldable form factors.
Seamless 5G connectivity: The 5G R16 modem supports 4CC-CA Sub-6GHz and 8CC-CA mmWave with MediaTek’s UltraSave 3.0+ technology for improved power efficiency.
Speedy memory: Dimensity 9300 supports LPDDR5T 9600Mbps memory, currently the highest speed available.
In addition to enhancing the user experience, the Dimensity 9300 prioritises security for flagship Android devices. Its privacy-focused security design protects critical processes during boot-up and secure computing, resisting physical attacks on data access.
