OPPO Launches First Foldable Smartphone for International Users – The OPPO Find N2 Flip

OPPO, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced the launch of its first foldable smartphone for international users – the OPPO Find N2 Flip. This device marks the company’s foray into the foldable phone market outside of China, following the success of its OPPO Find N and OPPO Find N2 series.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip is a sleek, compact device that combines a large cover screen with all-day battery life and SUPERVOOC flash charging. It’s designed to challenge users’ expectations of small form-factor foldable phones, offering a vertical cover screen that doubles as an impressive photography tool. With its lightweight and pocketable size, the OPPO Find N2 Flip is a perfect fit to for people who want a device that’s both convenient and functional.

One of the standout features of the OPPO Find N2 Flip is its cover screen. Measuring at 3.26 inches, it is the largest of any flip phone on the market. It offers an industry-leading vertical orientation, allowing the Cover Screen to display up to six notifications in one view, which is a game changer. Users can quickly reply to messages, toggle settings, record a voice note, answer a call, and more without having to open the phone. The cover screen also lets users customise their home screen in interactive ways, such as choosing between a bird, cat, dog, hamster, or rabbit, setting a GIF as their cover screen wallpaper, and displaying helpful insights such as the time, date, power status, and notifications.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip’s sleek design is another highlight of the device. Instead of creating a loud, attention-grabbing aesthetic, OPPO went for a simplified look that feels premium in the hand. The phone’s sides are made of polished aluminum, while the back cover has a unique micro-etched wave pattern across the hinge. It’s available in two colours – Astral Black and Moonlit Purple – and weighs just 191g, making it easy to carry around.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip’s 6.8-inch E6 AMOLED display is picture-perfect, with its cinematic 21:9 aspect ratio and smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The phone also has an advanced anti-reflection film and up to 1600 nits of peak brightness, which means it’s easy to use in different environments.

The camera on the OPPO Find N2 Flip is one of the best you’ll find on a flip phone. The device has a flagship 50MP main camera with a large Sony IMX890 sensor and an f/1.8 lens. The large cover screen of the phone gives users the clearest selfie preview available, while the Dual Preview feature lets people taking photos see how they look. The 17:9 aspect ratio cover screen is the same vertical orientation as the phone’s camera sensor, which helps to minimize cropping for maximum detail. The phone’s second-generation Flexion Hinge also makes it possible to hold the device mid-fold between 45-110 degrees for waist-level dynamic angles and evocative 4K time-lapse video, thanks to its FlexForm Mode.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip has been tested to withstand over 400,000 folds, making it one of the most durable foldable devices on the market. It’s also equipped with a powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ processor, ultra-fast dual-SIM 5G connectivity, and best-in-class charging speeds, thanks to its SUPERVOOC flash charging technology. This technology allows the device to charge up to 100% in just 45 minutes, which is a huge plus for people who are always on the go.

The OPPO Find N2 Flip represents the first true challenger to take on Samsung’s dominance in the foldable market.

Available for pre-order in the UK from 15 March 2023 for £849.

Positioned as a device that will be available globally, here’s hoping that the Find N2 Flip will come to South Africa sooner rather than later and undercut the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and upcoming Z Flip 5.
