In a stride towards fostering the creative potential of young women, OPPO South Africa has unveiled a promising opportunity in collaboration with the Amy Foundation Entrepreneurship Development Programme. The initiative, aptly named the Reno Academy Bursaries, aims to empower 50 aspiring female photographers, content creators, and creatives with essential photographic skills necessary to thrive in the dynamic world of content creation and artistry.

Training for Tomorrow’s Creators

The Reno Academy, a brainchild of OPPO, serves as a dedicated training platform designed to equip individuals with the expertise needed to excel in various creative pursuits. With an ever-evolving landscape of visual content, this initiative comes as a timely offering to nurture the potential of young talent.

In partnership with the GrowZA Academy, the selected young women will gain access to the OPPO Reno Academy’s comprehensive Mobile Photography Masterclass. Guided by photography expert Lauren Theunissen, participants will embark on an enriching journey through a spectrum of topics, spanning from fundamental concepts to advanced techniques. These include aspects such as aspect ratio, focus, exposure, grid activation, timelapse & hyperlapse, lens varieties, portrait mode, panoramic photography, and the revolutionary dual video feature found in the recently launched OPPO RENO10 5G.

Avashnee Moodley, Head of Marketing at OPPO South Africa, underscores the role of smartphones in enabling entrepreneurship and skill development, saying, “Smartphones have evolved into tools that can foster entrepreneurship or give young people an opportunity to grow and harness skills that can empower them or give them options on how to earn an income. As women’s month draws to a close, we know more than ever from conversations across all platforms this month, that there is a need to ensure that women are supported in their growth, as they shape the future of our nation, and we are hoping that the beneficiaries of these bursaries take it within their stride, to use this as an opportunity to shape their own future.”

Empowering through Creativity

Hilary George, Youth Skills Development Manager at the Amy Foundation, emphasizes the pivotal role of photography in the contemporary market, stating, “Good photography is essential for any entrepreneur looking to make a mark in today’s visually-driven market. The skills acquired from this masterclass will enable participants to tell their brand stories more effectively, connect with their target audience, and ultimately grow their businesses.”

Flexible Learning for Aspiring Creatives

To ensure accessibility and flexibility, the Creative Development Bursaries, launched in honor of Women’s Month, will be available online. This approach allows participants to engage with the course at their convenience, promoting a conducive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of aspiring creatives.

A Commitment to Social Responsibility

OPPO South Africa, in its pursuit of creating a positive impact in communities, seamlessly integrates social responsibility into its core business. The collaboration with the Amy Foundation and the GrowZA Academy underscores the brand’s commitment to shaping a future where young individuals take charge of their destinies. As Avashnee Moodley aptly concludes, “Through partnerships with organizations like the Amy Foundation and the GrowZA Academy, we are helping to shape a future where young people are responsible for their own future, and this is where real impact lies.”
