Samsung Attempts to Entice Non-Galaxy Users with “Try Galaxy” App

Back in 2021, Samsung released a website to provide iPhone users with a taste of what the other side had to offer by providing a simulated Galaxy experience. Two years after that limited launch, and renaming the site to “Try Galaxy” in 2022, and the company has updated the site to allow “users of non-Galaxy smartphones to test drive new features from the recently launched Galaxy S23 series and One UI 5.1.”

In addition, Samsung has updated the app by making it available in 14 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

The app offers users tutorials and allows them to explore the app’s homepage which features Galaxy icons, widgets, and navigation. They can also sample other features and get educated on key features of the Galaxy S23 series and One UI 5.1, such as the camera and Samsung’s connected ecosystem.

You’re also able to test in-app editing tools like Photo Remaster and Object Eraser.

“We’re proud of the intuitive, convenient and customisable experiences only available through the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem,” said Sonia Chang, Vice President of Brand Marketing Group of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “We’re committed to continuing to give people who aren’t already Samsung users the opportunity to explore what’s possible with the best and latest Galaxy experiences.”

While the “Try Galaxy” experience is not new, it comes at a time when Apple’s dominance continues to rise with the Cupertino brand accounting for 57% of smartphone shipments in the USA in the last quarter of 2022 and Gen Z accounting for 34% of iPhone users.

Canalys research indicates that Apple sells 26 iPads, 17 Apple Watches, and 35 pairs of AirPods for every 100 iPhones sold worldwide. In contrast, Samsung sells fewer than 11 tablets, six smartwatches, and six pairs of wireless earbuds for every 100 smartphone sales.

This poses a huge issue for Android manufacturer’s as Apple’s increasing popularity is not only impacting smartphone sales but potential sales of ecosystem and connected devices.

The “Try Galaxy” app is available for download through a simple QR code scan. To explore the app yourself, head to www.trygalaxy.com.
