Xiaomi Launches Redmi Note 10 Series in South Africa at a price that will make you question why you’re paying so much for any other smartphone brand

Xiaomi, the world’s third-largest smartphone brand, has announced four new devices: Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 10S, Redmi Note 10 5G, and the Mi Smart Band 6.

Starting at R4 499,00, the Redmi Note 10 series continues to raise industry standards by delivering astounding yet accessible smartphones that are packed with boundary-breaking innovation and technology, designed to help you challenge the boundaries and maximise your life experiences. Redmi Note 10 5G

With this new model, Xiaomi delivers one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in the country. Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700, the Redmi Note 10 5G has dual 5G SIM slots and provides flagship-level power-efficiency according to the company. It sports a triple camera system with 48MP main camera, 2MP macro camera and 2MP depth sensor and has a 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 10 5G (4GB RAM +128GB storage) comes in two colours: Graphite Gray and Nighttime Blue and retails at R4 499,00.

Redmi Note 10 Pro

Redmi Note 10 Pro ups the ante with its 108MP sensor with 9-in-1 binning technology and Dual native ISO. The camera sports a variety of modes including night mode 2.0, pro and telemacro time-lapse video shooting, Photo Clones, Video Clones, Dual Video and Long exposure modes. The phone’s new design language includes an Arc side fingerprint sensor, Coring Gorlla Glass 5 and a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED DotDisplay and is available in two head-turning colours – Onyx Gray and Glacier Blue. On the performance side, the Redmi Note 10 Pro features a 4G Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset, dual speakers, and a 5 020mAh battery with 33W fast charging.

Redmi Note 10S

The Redmi Note 10S is equipped with a 6.43-inch AMOLED DotDisplay and features the same design as the Redmi Note 10 Pro including an Arc side fingerprint sensor, 33W fast charging, a 360-degree light sensor setup and immersive dual speakers. The Note 10S quad camera differs from its Pro sibling and features an 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor for supporting portraits, however the real star of the show is the 64MP main sensor. The device is equipped with Pro time-lapse capabilities, marking an addition to the previous slow motion, night mode and regular time-lapse features.  
Powering the device is the MediaTek Helio G95 which the company says promises improved performance and GPU, clocking speeds of up to 900MHz.


Redmi Note 10S (6GB RAM+128GB storage) comes in Onyx Gray and Ocean Blue and retails at R4 999,00.

Mi Smart Band 6

Taking on both the Hawei Band 6 and the Honor Band 6, the new Mi Smart Band 6 sports a large – 1.56’-inch in the case of the Mi Smart Band 6 – full screen AMOLED touch display. The unique, running-track-shaped screen offers 326PPI resolution and approximately 50% more screen space than its predecessor. It also supports customisable band faces with over 60 themes. The Mi Smart Band 6 doubles its fitness mode options to include a total of 30 workout types including more indoor training like stretching and HIIT. The company also claims that it will work with professional workouts like gymnastics or more casual workouts like Zumba or street dancing. The band also offers auto-detection for 6 common fitness activities to ensure key stats for sporadic bouts of activity throughout the day are accurately recorded and factored into daily activity metrics. The Mi Smart Band 6 has what Xiaomi calls “a host of enhanced health monitoring features” including SpO2 measurement, accurate heart rate monitoring, as well as an enhanced sleep tracking function that monitors naps, sleep cycles including REM and sleep breathing quality. It also comes with stress monitoring, a deep breathing guidance function, and female health tracking.

It has a 14 day battery life, magnetic charging port for quick clip-on and clip-off charging, and is certified to 5 ATM water resistance which means that you’ll be able to wear it when swimming, snorkeling or showering.

Mi Smart Band 6 comes in Black and retails at R799,00.

***Redmi Note 10 Pro is available on the Vodacom website from 15 July 2021. The Redmi Note 10 Series will be available on Vodacom, Takealot and other official Xiaomi retailers from the end of July onwards.

These Note 10 Series devices are bundled with Mi True Wireless Earbuds Basic 2 and/or Mi Smart Band 5 for a limited time only through Vodacom.
