LG’s recently announced Wing is the first smartphone in the company’s Explorer Project. Unveiled during an online event in September, the device takes the dual-screen phone concept in a new direction by including a second display which swivels out rather than folding or unfolding like Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 2 or Huawei’s Mate Xs.
Designed to take flight
Described as the most transformative smartphone ever, the LG WING allows you to seamlessly switch between either Basic Mode or Swivel Mode, which reveals a hidden second screen.
This screen unlocks an entirely new and truly different experience for users. Simply swivel the entire front of the phone 90˚ to reveal the 3.9-inch second screen that doubles as a grip when the main screen is in landscape mode.
With its cinematic 21:9 view, the 6.8-inch flawless POLED FullVision display is perfect for immersing yourself in movies, but the 3.9″ second screen takes whatever you’re watching to a whole new level. And with no selfie camera in the way, you’ll be able to experience edge-to-edge entertainment like never before.
The swivel screen also makes the WING a multi-viewing and multitasking machine, with a new level of intuitiveness. Users get to choose whether they want multiple applications open at the same time, or one application displayed across both screens. Message friends, check notifications, or go-shopping – all without closing or minimising any apps.
The Multi App feature allows users to create shortcuts for pairs of apps they typically use together. Imagine being able to watch YouTube videos on the landscape main screen while Googling when a song first came out, or playing games while having a bird’s-eye view of the racetrack in front of you.
The perfect camera for content creators
The LG WING comes with astonishing new features, like Gimbal Motion Camera, Dual Recording, and more, that let you record and share every moment in crystal-clear detail.
Complete with three rear cameras – a 64MP Ultra High Resolution OIS Wide captures vivid detail, a 12MP Ultra Wide Gimbal Motion Camera keeps everything nice and smooth, and a 13MP Ultra Wide fits the whole scene in a single shot – users will be able take perfect pics every time. Plus, a 32MP Pop-Up Camera rises up into action when you hit selfie mode. Dual Recording means you can shoot footage with the front and rear camera, capturing double the amount of video footage, which you can either save together as one video or separately.
What happens next? Swivel that beauty around and start editing your creations on the LG Creator’s Kit. The Second Screen can be used as a dedicated editing palette while the video or photo is displayed on the Main Screen; who needs fancy editing equipment when you have the LG WING to add timelapse, slow motion, or intensify ASMR sound?
But that’s not all! The Gimbal Motion Camera, the world’s first in a smartphone, turns the LG WING’s Second Screen into a convenient grip, providing the stability needed to capture clearer shots and smooth video footage in horizontal mode with one hand. No more shaky and blurry video quality, just smoother, more professional-looking moments you’ll treasure forever.
The industry game changer you’ve been waiting for
Apart from challenging the industry status quo on what a smartphone should look like, it offers users a new and compelling mobile experience. Along with additional features, like the easy touch fingerprint sensor, Mil-STD-810G durability, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G Mobile Platform, the LG WING offers hours of multitasking for you to learn, play, and connect.
As Qualcomm’s first mobile platform to integrate an application processor and 5G Modem-RF system, the chipset brings best-in-class AI performance, lightning-fast 5G connectivity, and intelligent multi-camera capabilities, while also preserving battery life. Thanks, in part, to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming™ features, the LG WING delivers a truly unique entertainment experience with instantaneous response times, cinema-quality graphics, and incredible audio.
With all these impressive specs, it’s still relatively light, easy to hold, and convenient to carry – even when the second screen is activated. The ergonomic design of the device ensures a comfortable, stress-free grip whether in Swivel Mode or Basic Mode – perfect for taking selfies.

For the RRP of R19 999, South Africans will be able to get their hands on the WING 5G from MTN on 1 November 2020, Vodacom 7 November 2020, and Cell C in mid-November.
