vivo, sibling brand to OPPO, OnePlus and realme, has brought the V27 5G and V27e to South Africa.
These upper midrange devices appear to be aimed at content creators, or anyone who wants to be noticed, with their focus on camera features and unique colour-shifting body.
V27 5G
Camera
Equipped with what vivo calls their “Aura Light Portrait System” the V27 has a 50MP OIS Ultra-Sensing rear camera, studio-level soft lighting effect, and portrait-enhancing capabilities. The brand claims that because of the Sony IMX766V sensor and exclusive Aura Light and Portrait algorithms working in tandem, the device is able to deliver better portraits at night.
Completing the 50MP main sensor is an 8MP wide-angle sensor and a 2MP macro sensor.
It also has Hybrid Image Stabilisation (OIS + EIS), which vivo says allows the device to perform stabilisation computations and movements up to 10,000 times per second, and a 50MP AF selfie camera.
Design
Its Magic Blue edition features Fluorite AG Glass with a colour-changing effect under UV light that changes the back from light blue to dark blue, while the Noble Black variant has an embossed glitter texture. Both colourways have a 6.78-inch 3D curved screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1300 nits peak brightness. Billed as “the thinnest phone with 3D curved screens in vivo’s history”, with a thinness of 7.36mm (for the Noble Black variant vs 7.4mm for the Magic Blue variant) and 180g weight.
The front of the device is adorned by the 120Hz, 6.78-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080) AMOLED display.
Battery and Power
Powering the handset is the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset which boasts low power consumption, higher processing speed, and a substantial performance boost over the previous generation of MediaTek chip. Extended RAM up to 8GB is also available.
The handset has 66W FlashCharge technology giving you the ability to charge the 4600mAh battery from 0% – 50% in 19 minutes while the screen is off.
V27e

Unlike the V27 5G which features a curved display and slimmer sides, the V27e adopts the industry’s current flat edge design.
It sports a 64MP main camera sensor with Aura Light Portrait feature, complemented by a 2MP bokeh lense and a 2MP macro lense.
On the front, you’ll find a 32MP selfie camera nestled in the 120Hz, 6.62-inch FHD+ AMOLED display.
Available in two colours, the Lavender Purple edition uses the nano-scale photo-etching technique and features a glowing peacock feather pattern, while the Glory Black edition features a silky, glittery pattern.
The handset is only 7.7mm thick and weighs only 185g.
Powering the handset is a 4600mAh battery with 66W FlashCharge technology.
Pricing
The vivo V27 5G has an RRP of R16 999.00 while the V27e has an RRP of R11 999.00.
