While the launch of the Samsung S23 series is rumoured to be taking place on 1 February 2023, Samsung is keeping our desires for a new phone appeased with the launch of the Galaxy A14 5G at CES 2023.
Set to be priced at US$199, the Galaxy A14 5G is US$50 cheaper than 2021’s A13 5G. While the A14 has several improvements over its predecessor, including a higher resolution display and better selfie camera, it has largely kept the same core specifications, including a MediaTek 700 chipset and 4GB of RAM. It also has 64GB of storage, but allows for microSD expansion of up to 1TB..
The A14 has a 6.6-inch screen with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 1080p resolution, and a rear camera array consisting of a 50 megapixel main camera and low resolution macro and depth sensors while the selfie camera has been upgraded to 13 megapixels. It has a large 5,000mAh battery and support for sub-6GHz 5G, and comes with the latest Android 13 operating system. Overall, the features and the four year security update plan make this US$200 phone one of the most compelling mid-range handsets of the year.
