Nadia Jaftha backs emerging creators as Content Creator Awards adds partners for 2026

The Content Creator Awards has added YouTube, Telkom, 947 and Cars.co.za as partners for its 2026 edition, while three-time winner Nadia Jaftha is returning in a different role this year to support emerging South African creators.

Jaftha’s Creator Club will sponsor the Emerging Creator Award, with the winner receiving a R50,000 creator campaign intended to give them both financial backing and a commercial opportunity early in their career.

“Winning these awards genuinely changed the trajectory of my business and my career,” Jaftha says. “Supporting the Emerging Creator Award is my way of paying that forward and investing in the next generation of South African creators.”

The partnership gives the award a slightly different significance from a conventional brand sponsorship. Jaftha has previously won at the Content Creator Awards three times and is now returning as a business owner putting money and work behind someone entering the same industry.

Content Creator Awards founder Manuela Dias de Deus says that shift reflects the type of creator ecosystem the awards is trying to build.

“It’s partnerships like these that demonstrate what the Content Creator Awards have always been about: creators opening doors for other creators,” she says. “Seeing someone like Nadia return, not as a nominee but as a partner investing in emerging talent, is incredibly special and speaks to the community we’re building.”

YouTube will also present a new award at this year’s event, although the organisers haven’t yet announced the category. Telkom will sponsor the Best Online Series Award, 947 is backing the Sound of Tomorrow Award and Cars.co.za will sponsor the Automotive Award.

The involvement of companies spanning telecommunications, media, automotive and online video also shows how difficult it has become for brands to treat creators as a niche part of their marketing mix. South African companies are increasingly building products and campaigns around the people making content for platforms such as TikTok and YouTube. Vodacom, for example, has previously targeted creators directly with mobile data products designed around content creation and consumption.

For an industry that was once largely built around individual personalities growing audiences on social platforms, creator businesses increasingly sit alongside traditional media, advertising and entertainment.

Dias de Deus says the calibre of the partners reflects that change. “Content creation has evolved from a passion project into a thriving industry that’s shaping culture, influencing purchasing decisions and creating entirely new careers,” she says. “The fact that leading brands continue to invest in these awards demonstrates the value they see in South Africa’s creator community and the impact creators are having across every sector.”

The Content Creator Awards is expected to announce its headline sponsor and the full list of 2026 nominees next week.
