Cape Town is getting another direct connection to Europe this month, with Air France bringing back its seasonal service between Cape Town International Airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle for the 2026/27 summer season.
The route returns on 22 September 2026 and will continue until 27 March 2027. Air France will start with three flights a week before increasing that to five weekly services from the beginning of November.
For South Africans heading to France, the obvious advantage is being able to fly directly from Cape Town to Paris. Paris-Charles de Gaulle also gives travellers access to Air France’s wider European and international network, so the flight works just as well as the first leg of a longer trip.
Three flights a week to start
Between 22 September and 31 October, flights will leave Cape Town on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
The Cape Town departure is scheduled for 00:15, with arrival at Paris-Charles de Gaulle at 12:15 later that day. That departure time is worth paying attention to. Because the flight leaves shortly after midnight, passengers will need to arrive at Cape Town International Airport on the evening before the departure date shown on their booking.
Things change from 1 November, when Air France increases the service to five flights a week. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, with Tuesdays and Thursdays the only days without a service.
The departure time also becomes considerably more civilised. Flights will leave Cape Town at 08:30 and arrive in Paris at 19:20. That schedule will remain in place until the seasonal route ends on 27 March 2027.

You’ll be flying on an Airbus A350
Every flight on the seasonal route will be operated using an Airbus A350-900, one of the newer long-haul aircraft in Air France’s fleet.
The Airbus A350 was designed around long-haul flying, with a wider cabin, lower cabin altitude and higher humidity than many older-generation aircraft. Air France has been progressively adding the aircraft to its long-haul fleet as part of its broader fleet renewal programme.
The choice of aircraft also makes sense for a route of this length. Cape Town to Paris is very much a full long-haul flight, and the A350 has become one of the aircraft Air France increasingly relies on for this part of its network.

“Cape Town and Paris are two destinations with an incredibly strong connection, whether through tourism, business, culture or the many South Africans who travel to France each year. Increasing the service to five flights a week for the majority of the season gives our customers even greater flexibility when planning their European travels.”
Tauro says the route is also intended to feed passengers into Air France’s Paris hub, whether they’re travelling elsewhere in Europe or connecting onwards to another international destination.
Cape Town’s international route network has expanded considerably over the past few years, particularly during the city’s summer season, when international airlines add capacity to cater for both inbound tourism and South Africans travelling abroad. We’ve also seen airlines such as Emirates rebuild and expand their international networks as long-haul travel demand has recovered.
Bookings for the Cape Town to Paris route are already open, and travellers can search available dates and fares directly through the Air France South Africa website, the airline’s app or through a travel agent.
At the moment, Air France’s booking system is already showing Cape Town to Paris fares across the upcoming season, although prices vary considerably depending on the travel dates selected.
